Lowcountry Veterans Home's New Dining Room Table!

Today was the start of a partnership with Mr.Kemp and his construction class at Burke High School. The objective of this partnership was to build a community table for all the residents at Lowcountry Veterans Home to come together and share a meal together! The table was built with the hope that hundreds of people would sit at and laugh and eat and heal but that because of that idea the students felt that responsibility to finish building the table to help the people in the community.

The Lowcountry Veterans Home’s mission is to provide traditional housing to homeless United States Military veterans in the Charleston area. They offer more than just a place to stay, they provide food and transportation services, while also facilitating volunteer, educational, and employment opportunities through our community network.

The students had such an amazing time getting to work with their hands and make a significant impact along the way. The table will be used for years and by so many veterans who are getting back on their feet. It was such an honor to work with the Lowcountry Veterans Home and all of their amazing people.
