Christmas at Joseph Floyd Manor

Students at Burke are partnering with the organization Friends of Joseph Floyd Manor to provide some Christmas cheer to the seniors and elderly who are having to be alone this holiday season due to Covid-19. Students visited the retirement home and decorated a Christmas tree and the lobby of the building along to get it into the holiday spirit along with many of the residents who played carols for us to work to! It was so much fun to get to interact with people in the community and spread a little Christmas joy!

Students are also organizing a drive for toiletry bags to donate to the residents for the holiday season when many of them would be going to see family any other year. If you would like to donate, please reach out to samclements@doorstodream.org. We are hoping to donate these on Friday December 18th. In these bags, we are also giving homemade cookies, handwritten notes, and frozen Trader Joes meals! We’re so thankful for the support we have had on this project and are always looking for other partners.

Check out our shoutout in the Post and Courier too!
